The "meta" Metatron is a plot device similar to Deus Ex Machina. The interdimensional entity declares that it is the same as the research and production companies, after declaring it is the "I am". This twist, glitch subtly implies that it has been creating and controlling the fictional reality of the movie, as well as the viewers actual reality (a simulation multiverse and metaverse). Also, the "celestial host" claim, given the transcendent evolution opening, hints at a possible origin story for angelic beings.
