To make your own slideshow, you will need an application. Several different stand-alone applications are available for free or for purchase online. Most people aren’t aware, however, that they already have an application on their Windows computer that can be used to make some awesome slideshows – Windows Movie Maker.
To begin, open Windows Movie Maker. Near the top, left is a button labeled Import Media. Click on this to open all the pictures you want to put into your slideshow. You can have music in your slideshow also, so you can use this to import mp3s into Movie Maker too. All of your available files will now display on the left side of the screen. On the bottom is a timeline. The timeline will allow you to arrange your photos and music in the order you want them to appear. Starting with the music, click on the mp3 and, holding the mouse button down, drag the music to the audio portion of the timeline.
Once your music is set, drag down the photos in the order you want them displayed to the video portion of the timeline. You can increase or decrease the display time for each photo by dragging the end in or out in the timeline. To make your slideshow more interesting, add transitional effects between each photo. Right click on the pictures in the timeline and choose Effects from the menu to add the transitions. You can preview the slideshow in the player on the right side of the screen. To save your slideshow, click on File on the top menu and choose Save.
