As of early 2010, the current war in Iraq has taken the lives of 4,373 U.S. troops, 179 U.K. troops, and 139 troops from other countries, for a total of 4,693. Iraqi police forces working with the Coalition have suffered an estimated 9,000-11,500 casualties as of August 2009. It's estimated about 1,400 contract workers have died up to January 2009, including both civilian workers and security forces. There is no data for Iraqi soldiers who fought against the coalition during the invasion, while civilian casualties estimates vary anywhere from 100,000 to 1 million.

The Gulf War in the early nineties resulted in the deaths of 148 Americans in combat, 145 Americans outside of combat, 47 U.K. troops, 2 French troops, and 37 troops from Arab countries outside Kuwait. It's estimated that 190 troops died directly from combat, while the total number of coalition dead, including soldiers missing in action, is 569. It's estimated somewhere between 20,000 and 35,000 Iraqi soldiers died in combat.
