Looking this up and learning this information for you almost makes me wish I hadn't! I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat at McDonald's again.
McDonald's nutrition information site reports that the Big Mac has 540 calories. It has 260 calories in fat, (29 grams of fat,) as well as 75 delicious grams of cholesterol, 45 grams of carbohydrates, and 10 grams of saturated fat.
Of their sandwiches, the Angus Mushroom and Swiss is the worst, at 770 calories, and 360 calories from fat. For breakfast, the "Deluxe Breakfast with large sized biscuit, no syrup or margarine" weighs in at a whopping 1,150 calories, and 540 come from fat. The 32 ounce Chocolate Triple Thick milkshake alone is 1,160 calories, with 240 of those from fat.
Generally, it's a pretty good idea to avoid fast food chains as often as possible. I won't deny that I also occasionally crave a big, greasy burger from McBurger Bell or wherever, but the detriments to your health over time just aren't worth it if eating at such places is a regular habit for you. Once a month probably won't kill you, but once a week or once a day eventually might. Beware even things that they market as "healthy." A 430 calorie salad with crispy chicken doesn't sound like a good choice to me!
