Lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. To make lasagna, you will need several ingredients:
• 1 12 – 14 oz can tomato sauce
• 1 12 -14 oz can diced tomatoes
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 medium onion
• 1 clove garlic
• ¼ cup chopped basil
• 1 lb Italian sausage
• 16 oz lasagna pasta
• 12 oz ricotta cheese
• 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
• 8 oz grated parmesan cheese
Mince the garlic, and dice the onion. Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet. Add the garlic and onion to the oil. Sauté the garlic and onion for about 3 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and diced tomato. Add the basil, and simmer on low. Crumble the Italian sausage in another skillet, and cook until brown. Boil 4 quarts of water in a large pot, and add the lasagna pasta. Drain the grease from the Italian sausage, and mix it into the tomato sauce. When the lasagna pasta is al dente, 8 – 10 minutes, remove it from the heat. Spread a spoon of tomato sauce on the bottom of a 10” x 18” pan. Place a layer of the pasta on the sauce. Spread the ricotta cheese on the pasta with another spoon of sauce. Place another layer of pasta on top. Pour the remaining sauce over the lasagna. Add the mozzarella, and top it off with the parmesan. Cover the pan, and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes. Uncover the pan, and cook for another 10 minutes to brown the cheese. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before cutting into sections and serving.
