Getting in shape is really easier than it sounds. Once you have built yourself a routine, you won’t even have to think about it anymore. Getting in shape requires a two-pronged attack. On one end, you have to watch what you eat. On the other, you have to get adequate exercise.
Controlling what you eat requires that you eat less while still getting all of your nutrients. Getting in shape mostly involves sticking to a diet in order to come down to a healthy weight. Losing weight breaks down to calorie intake and calorie output. You must be burning more calories than you consume. Counting your calories and measuring your exercise is the best way to control your weight. A regular diet is said to be 2000 – 2500 calories per day. To get yourself into shape, you should be looking at 1500 calories per day. You may go down to 1000 calories per day for short periods of time, but any less and you will not be getting the vitamins and protein that is needed to support your health. You should be consuming a minimum of fat and plenty of raw fruits and vegetables.
Exercise should be done following one of many regimens. An aerobic workout or treadmill workout will help to burn the calories. You can mix in some light weight training to get your muscles toned. Sit-ups and crunches will tighten your stomach and give you slimmer look. A great free online tool to track your calories eaten and burned can be found at www.fitday.com. Keeping a journal will put your diet and exercise into perspective and make it easier to control.
