As boringly as possible. Remove as many piercings and cover as many tattoos as possible, and go with a normal hair color.
Men
You need a suit. How do you get a suit that fits right? Tailoring!
You have two choices:
Go to a store that specializes in suits. They should have an in-house tailor that will adjust the suit as part of the purchase price, often much faster than an independent tailor.
Since most people wear a suit only once or twice for special occasions, they're readily available at thrift stores and vintage clothing shops for a fraction of the price of a new suit. There's a chance you may find something off the rack that fits perfectly, but you may still want some adjustments made. This may cost more than the suit, but you'll still come out ahead.
Dress shirts come in measurements for neck and sleeve lengths. A small is equivalent to a neck size of 14-14 1/2, and each successive size will adding another inch to the neck size. Always try on a shirt before buying: measurement standards can vary a lot between manufacturers.
Women
You also need a suit. Go for a gray or black jacket with slacks or a skirt that reaches below the knee. Always wear hose with a skirt.
Less is always better: less makeup, a smaller purse, lower heels, and simpler jewelry will help you look more professional.
Closed-toe shoes may be in now, but they're always in for interviews.
