Why do men's dress shirts seem to come packaged with fifty million freakin' pins in them?

So you prick yourself and get blood on it, forcing you to buy another one!

Seriously though, it's so the shirt stays in shape while in its packaging.

Most shirts will be pinned like this:

Front

One on each corner of the collar
One or two on the top button.

Back

One at each corner of the folds, or sometimes just the bottom two corners
One at the top fold of the left sleeve
One on each cuff

Go through this checklist and make sure you've removed each pin before putting it on. You could end up with as many as eleven pins.

A few manufacturers have switched to micropins. These thin plastic wires can be broken with a gentle tug, damaging neither the fabric nor your fingers.
