It wouldn't sell for anything close to the purchase price. Anything on the black market is all about having the right product for the right buyer. If it is a highly desirable luxury or sports car, it might sell for more on the black market.
According to many news sources, it's very difficult to sell a car on the black market these days. Many cars have built-in tracking systems, and the car's VIN and other identifying marks are being stamped in more places than ever. Therefore according to the news reports, most stolen cars are junked and parts are sold individually to unscrupulous buyers. Many thieves specialize in selling to these "chop shops". There is no reliable data for how much a chop shop will pay for a stolen car, but it's probably a fraction of the sales price. Obviously since stealing cars is illegal, the criminals involved in such things are not exactly forthcoming with details about their business.
The criminal penalties for auto theft can be quite severe. Personally I would encourage any would-be car thieves to take up a legitimate occupation in auto sales or auto repair instead of a life of crime. You can make a lot of money, work with cars, and sleep soundly at night.
