A Cat in the Bed is one of the lesser-known works of the obscure French author, Claude Balls. He is known more for his book The Tiger’s Revenge. Book reviewers have likened his work to that of Dick Gosinia and Harry Paratesties from Greece.
The books of Claude Balls rank up with those of many other obscure, but great, authors. Ida Paxton Freely was the author of the compelling title The Yellow River. I.P. Freely is also sometimes mistakenly confused as the author of Lights Out at the Boys School, but that splendid work was a joint effort by Holden and Sharon Dix, one of the best husband-and-wife teams in the literary world.
Many literary scholars also put The Diary of a Hooker by Lotta Cox near the top of their list of obscure but great titles. In the same vein as this book is a work by Ilene Dover, Through a Brown, Darkly. Although a world apart, these works are comparative to a couple hailing out of Asia. One of those is How to Make $30 by Chu Sum Wang, and the other is the notable book penned by Hoo Flung Poo, Stain on the Great Wall.
The last book of relevance is a work that has yet to be reviewed, a non-fictional medical book called Venereal Disease & its Effects. This textbook is written by Maya P. Burns and Dick Hurtz.
Of course, Claude Balls and all of the rest of these authors are fictional and appear in the Saturday Night Live sketch entitled “Let’s Talk Books.” The sketch originally aired in season 25, episode 14 and starred Will Ferrell, Ana Gasteyer, Joshua Jackson and Tim Meadows.
